Overview
In 1993, the college reached world-wide fame in the movie Rudy the story of a young man who attends Holy Cross College and through diligence and hard work overcomes great odds to achieve his dream of attending the University of Notre Dame and playing football for the Fighting Irish. In those days, Holy Cross was a two-year junior college with a reputation for helping transform good students into excellent students capable of admissions into the nation-s finest universities. Today, Holy Cross-s reputation for producing excellent students is even stronger as a destination school in its own right. Local, national, and international students enroll to earn their four-year BA degrees from Holy Cross College. The College has welcomed students from all 50 states and 30 foreign countries. Currently, we are one of only a handful of colleges in the US accepting Iraqi students as an act of goodwill to help foster peace and understanding between our two countries. College athletes come to Holy Cross College to try out for an opportunity to play on one of the Saints intercollegiate athletic teams of basketball, golf, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, and cheerleading. Students of many faiths and beliefs call Holy Cross College home. Catholic students will appreciate the convenience of daily mass and weekly confession in St. Joseph Chapel. Those who are open to spiritual growth and development are invited to get involved in Holy Cross College-s Campus Ministry. Located just north of the city limits of South Bend, Indiana, Holy Cross College-s 150-acre wooded campus along the beautiful St. Joseph River is adjacent to the campuses of the University of Notre Dame and Saint Mary-s College. This geographical proximity gives Holy Cross a unique -best of both worlds- setting in that it offers the intimacy and one-to-one academic attention of a small college with the social and cultural resources of a major university.
